Hartland High School is set to host performances of the popular “The Addams Family Musical,” showcasing a unique blend of comedy, music, and family drama. The production will run on April 17-18 and 24-25 at 7:30 p.m., with matinee shows at 2:30 p.m. on April 19 and 26. The Hartland Drama Club has assembled a talented cast and crew of 82 members to bring this beloved story to the stage.
The musical centers around Wednesday Addams, who has grown up and fallen in love with a young man from a conventional family. She shares her secret with her father, Gomez Addams, who must keep it hidden from his wife, Morticia. The plot thickens when the Addams family hosts a dinner for Wednesday’s boyfriend and his parents, leading to unexpected and entertaining revelations.
Under the direction of Scott Usher, who fondly recalls watching the original television series as a child, the show features original music by Andrew Lippa and lyrics that capture the quirky spirit of the Addams family. Senior Grace Pantelas plays Morticia Addams and describes this production as a highlight of her high school drama experience. She praises the fun songs, energetic dances, and special effects that add to the show’s charm.
The cast includes Jackson Albers as Gomez Addams, Samantha Landacre as Wednesday Addams, Logan Clark as Uncle Fester, Miles Vohwinkle as Pugsley Addams, Paige Reck as Grandma Addams, and Ioan DeWinkle as Lurch. The ensemble also features Dominic Najjar and Maya Griffon as members of the Beineke family, whose normalcy contrasts humorously with the eccentric Addams clan.
Students involved in the production have shared how the musical explores themes of acceptance, honesty, and family bonds despite differences. The show’s message resonates with audiences by celebrating uniqueness and encouraging viewers not to judge others by appearances or social norms.
Many cast members expressed how participating in the drama club has enriched their high school years by fostering friendships, building confidence, and developing leadership skills. From lead actors to crew members like Tiffany Casto, who heads the props team, everyone contributes to creating a magical theater experience.
Tickets are priced at $16 for adults and $14 for students and seniors when purchased in advance online or at $18/$16 at the door. The Hartland Drama Club invites audiences of all ages to enjoy this spooky yet heartwarming musical that celebrates family through some of the best songs about family ever written for the stage.
