Mountain View High School’s varsity badminton team encountered a tough opponent in Lynbrook High School on March 19, enduring a 25-5 loss. Despite the wide margin, players remain optimistic about their development throughout the season. Junior Nandita Joshi, who plays mixed doubles, recognized Lynbrook’s strength but pointed out that many games were closely contested. She praised her teammates’ dedication and emphasized the importance of teamwork and perseverance regardless of the score.\n\n
\n\nSophomore Aiden Wong, partnered with senior Amish Tyagi in doubles, secured the team’s first win during the match. Wong spoke about improvements in their training routines and how better coordination has helped the team, though he admitted that shot consistency still needs work. The players are actively applying their coaches’ guidance to improve overall performance. Joshi also mentioned a growing sense of team spirit, noting how players support each other from the sidelines—a factor she believes enhances both individual effort and group dynamics.\n\nAt American Canyon High School, the badminton team is showing steady advancement within the Vine Valley Athletic League. Coach Dorothy Gail Ramos expressed confidence in building stronger partnerships between new and experienced players as the season continues. Many athletes on this squad have honed their skills over several years, with some beginning their badminton journey as early as middle school.\n\nPark Center High School kicked off their 2026 badminton season with strong performances, including a significant home victory over Minneapolis North Polars on March 19. This event was their fourth meet following matches against Fridley, St. Paul Central, and Roosevelt. The team appears focused on generating early momentum to sustain success throughout the season.\n\nJunior varsity matches across various schools have produced mixed outcomes, reflecting an increasing level of competition and commitment among high school badminton players. Teams are balancing tough opponents with steady growth fueled by regular practice and teamwork.
