Rob Bibber, a Marine Corps veteran, is using his music to honor both his military service and personal loss. This Sunday at 3 p.m., the Bangor Elks Lodge in Maine will host a special event featuring the release of Bibber’s new song. The event is designed to benefit veterans through the Maine Veterans Project and to share the powerful stories behind his music.
Bibber’s journey into songwriting began unexpectedly. Previously involved only in cover bands, he never imagined creating original music until he joined Operation Song, a veterans organization that connects veterans with professional songwriters. Through this program, Bibber worked with Nashville songwriter Matt McKinney to craft a song capturing the universal experience of military members being separated from their families. Bibber shared that during his first deployment in the Marine Corps, his daughter was just 30 days old, making the theme deeply personal.
The loss of his wife to cancer last year was another turning point for Bibber. Faced with grief, he found solace in music, which helped him process his emotions. This creative outlet has now become a way for him to give back to communities close to his heart. Proceeds from the upcoming song release will support veteran organizations nationwide, with half of all earnings during its first year going directly to these groups.
Bibber is not stopping with this single release. He plans to launch two more songs in the near future, each aimed at raising funds for important causes. His next project will focus on supporting cancer charities, reflecting the impact his wife’s illness had on his life.
The event at Bangor Elks Lodge marks an important moment where music and service intersect. It offers attendees a chance to support veterans while enjoying heartfelt original music inspired by real-life military experiences. Those interested in following Rob Bibber’s musical journey can find updates and news about upcoming releases on his Facebook page.
This initiative highlights how veterans continue to serve their communities in diverse ways after their military careers end. Through storytelling and song, Bibber honors both his fellow Marines and those affected by cancer, turning personal hardships into hope and support for others.
