Jason Aldean has opened up about his personal life and musical journey with the release of his 12th studio album, “Songs About Us,” which features his first-ever duet with his wife, Brittany Aldean. The album, launched through Broken Bow Records, dives deeply into themes of love, heartache, and the complexities of relationships, reflecting real experiences shared by Aldean and many others.
In a recent interview, Aldean described the album as a collection that spans a wide emotional range. “It’s love songs, it’s heartache songs, it’s all of it,” he said. This variety mirrors both his personal experiences and universal feelings that listeners can relate to. A standout track on the album is “Easier Gone,” a duet performed by Jason and Brittany. This marks a significant milestone for the couple, who have been married since 2015 and have two children together.
Brittany Aldean, known as an entrepreneur and founder of Vada fragrance, stepped into the recording studio for the first time to record the duet. Jason explained that he was cautious about collaborating with his wife on music because such duets can sometimes feel overly sentimental or forced. However, they aimed to keep it authentic and aligned with Jason’s style. Rather than a typical love ballad, “Easier Gone” leans more toward heartache, which fits well with Jason’s signature sound.
The recording process was also a unique experience for both. Jason mentioned that he took on more of a producer role to guide Brittany through her first studio session. He was impressed by her quick adaptation and vocal performance during the recording. Their collaboration not only showcased their musical chemistry but also offered insight into their real-life marriage dynamic — imperfect but committed.
Aldean candidly spoke about marriage challenges, emphasizing that disagreements are natural. “Sometimes you realize that you’re just not always going to see eye-to-eye on things,” he shared. “There are certain things that she’s never going to see where I’m coming from and vice versa… You just kind of have to go with it. Agree to disagree.”
Besides the duet with Brittany, “Songs About Us” includes collaborations with other country stars like Luke Bryan and David Lee Murphy. The title track features Luke Bryan, who has been a close friend of Aldean for many years. Their friendship often includes playful banter, such as joking about fashion choices from their early days in country music.
Aldean is currently co-headlining a concert at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia alongside Luke Bryan to promote the new album. The project highlights not only Aldean’s growth as an artist but also his willingness to share personal stories about love and relationships through his music.
Overall, “Songs About Us” stands out as a heartfelt exploration of marriage’s highs and lows, combining genuine emotion with strong country melodies. Fans appreciate this honest approach as it reflects real-life experiences beyond just romanticized ideals.
