Every Sunday morning, the Launch Point Community Church in Copperas Cove comes alive with nearly 200 congregants gathering to worship and celebrate their faith. Among them is DeAundre Williamson, a 26-year-old local who plays a vital role behind the scenes, managing sound equipment to ensure the worship experience is seamless. Known as Dre to his friends and family, Williamson’s life story reflects a powerful journey of faith, community, and music.
Raised in a deeply religious environment, Williamson spent his early years attending church regularly with his grandfather, who was a Baptist reverend. However, after moving away from his grandfather’s home, he and his mother stopped attending church for some time. It wasn’t until they began attending Christian Freedom Ministries, a non-denominational church in Copperas Cove, that their spiritual journey resumed. The turning point came in September 2024 when Williamson met Pastor Casey Wiggins at a local event. Wiggins had recently founded Launch Point Community Church in October 2023 along with two friends and invited Williamson to visit.
Williamson recalls walking into Launch Point Community Church not knowing anyone but leaving with a heart deeply touched by the warmth and acceptance of the church family. He describes feeling embraced by love, kindness, and respect—qualities that solidified his commitment to this new spiritual home. By the end of September 2024, Williamson was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, marking what he calls the greatest moment of his life.
His pastor has witnessed significant personal growth since Williamson joined the congregation. For Williamson, this church represents more than just a place of worship; it is where he found a renewed purpose and direction. He shares that before fully committing to his faith journey, he was heavily invested in self-help books and motivational speeches but now finds true growth through his relationship with God and his church community.
Music has always been an important part of Williamson’s life. Growing up listening to hip-hop, R&B, jazz, and pop music, he began writing and recording songs about six years ago. Initially focused on secular rap music, his artistic direction changed after embracing his faith fully. Today, he primarily writes Christian rap songs that convey messages of hope and spiritual encouragement. Collaborating with other Christian artists across Central Texas has helped him refine his message and reach a broader audience.
Williamson’s music is available on various streaming platforms under the name M.A.G. Rock. His latest album titled “Identity in Christ” reflects his spiritual journey and desire to share God’s goodness through worship songs about the church and faith. Beyond music, Williamson hopes more people will experience the transformative power of community found at Launch Point Community Church.
His story highlights how worship music can serve as both a form of personal expression and a powerful tool for faith sharing within church communities. Through sound management and songwriting, Williamson helps bring people together in praise while spreading messages of hope and spiritual growth. His journey is an inspiring example of how faith and music intersect to strengthen bonds within a congregation and foster individual transformation.
