Country singer Scotty McCreery shares a special connection with his young son Avery through their mutual love of music. At just three years old, Avery is already showing a strong interest in songs and artists, often going on the road with his father. Scotty recently revealed that Avery is currently obsessed with Ronnie Milsap, frequently listening to his music during car rides.
This father-son musical bond was further strengthened by their shared appreciation for Hootie & the Blowfish. Scotty’s song “Bottle Rockets,” inspired by his own childhood memories of listening to the band, includes a unique collaboration featuring Hootie & the Blowfish singing the chorus of their famous hit “Hold My Hand.” Interestingly, Avery had just discovered the band himself shortly before this collaboration took place.
“We got into a Hootie phase with Avery about a month before the collaboration,” Scotty said. “‘Hold My Hand’ became his favorite song, and he would ask me to play it on guitar. When he heard me sing and then recognized ‘Hold My Hand,’ he got really excited and called it ‘the Hootie song.’ It’s great to see him so engaged with music at such a young age.”
The success of “Bottle Rockets” not only brought joy to Scotty and his son but also marked a significant achievement for the artist. The song reached number one on the charts, and Scotty celebrated this milestone with a party at BMI in Nashville alongside Hootie & the Blowfish.
Songs about father-son relationships and growing up have long been cherished in music, capturing moments of bonding, learning, and shared experiences. In this case, Scotty McCreery’s journey with Avery highlights how music can connect generations, creating lasting memories and influencing young lives.
As Avery continues to explore different musical phases, from Ronnie Milsap to Hootie & the Blowfish, it reflects how children often discover their tastes through parental influence while also developing their own unique preferences. This evolving dynamic showcases the powerful role music plays in family life.
Scotty’s story resonates with many parents who use songs to teach lessons, share emotions, and celebrate milestones in their children’s growth. The artist’s personal connection to his childhood favorites and his desire to pass them on to Avery emphasizes the timeless nature of music as a bridge between generations.
