Lake Community Arts recently brought the community together with a stirring spring concert titled “I Hear America Singing!” Drawing an audience of over 800, the event showcased more than 100 singers from the Lake Community Choir alongside the newly formed Children Sing! choir. The concert featured a diverse program of Americana, including folk tunes, spirituals, patriotic anthems, and cherished classics such as “Shenandoah,” “Simple Gifts,” and the “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” These heartfelt performances underscored the enduring spirit of America and highlighted the unifying power of music.
Special guest musicians added depth to the evening’s sound, with pianist Eric Heumann, drummer Ryan Ganaban, and trumpeter Jacob Pickett enriching the musical experience. The Children Sing! choir captivated audiences with their youthful energy and impressive vocal talents under the expert direction of Rachel Robertson, Debbie Morreale Fahmie, Erin Lally Nesslage, and Luralee Anderson. Rachel Robertson expressed great pride in the children’s creativity and commitment, emphasizing how collaborative music-making brings joy and connection.
Looking ahead to summer, Lake Community Arts is launching a new summer camp for children entering first through sixth grade. Set to run from June 1 to June 5 at the Clermont Performing Arts & Recreation Center, this camp offers a nurturing space for young participants to develop their musical skills while engaging in creative arts activities. The program is designed to be affordable, encouraging wide participation and fostering a love for the arts among future generations in the community.
Beyond performances and camps, Lake Community Arts remains deeply committed to arts education in the region. Upcoming professional development workshops for arts teachers will be held at Mission Inn in early August and later at Tavares High School and East Ridge High School in September. These sessions aim to provide educators with new tools and strategies to inspire their students and expand access to quality arts instruction throughout Lake County.
Plans are also underway for fall and winter concerts in 2026, including showcases featuring bands and choirs. Of particular note is the holiday choir concert scheduled for December 20, which invites singers aged 14 and older to join without auditions. The Lake Community Choir continues to welcome new members eager to share their love of singing while building meaningful community ties.
Dedicated to enriching Lake County’s cultural landscape through music, theater, dance, and visual arts, Lake Community Arts fosters collaboration between performers and audiences alike. The organization encourages local families, businesses, and supporters to contribute through donations or sponsorships that sustain its mission.
Through concerts celebrating songs about the lake, educational camps, teacher workshops, and outreach efforts, Lake Community Arts highlights creative expression as a powerful force that unites people. This vibrant arts community continues to offer inspiring experiences for all who value culture and connection.
